It’s funny how things come full circle.
The first month that I started here at Gameloft, we opened our New Orleans Studio.
Not even a week into the job, and I was already drafting speeches to be given alongside Louisiana’s Governor Bobby Jindal, and writing up case studies to showcase the great opportunities the region held for digital media companies like ourselves.
In doing so, I learned that Gameloft boasts a local presence that no other publisher in the industry has. Since our founding, Gameloft has ventured into territories around the world to bring new opportunities for programmers while simultaneously infusing a taste of various cultures and creative practices into our own creative and business practices.
While not the first studio to have a presence in New Orleans, Gameloft is certainly the first creation studio and second worldwide developer to take advantage of the amazing opportunities the New Orleans area has to offer. Officially opening the doors in August of 2011, the studio is located at the heart of a world-class culture that provides access to some of Louisiana’s top universities, top tier talent and an incredible set of incentives provided by the state itself.
Now, a year later, we’re not only celebrating the studio’s first anniversary, but the launch of their first product, Cosmic Colony, as well.
After a year’s work in attracting top talent and kicking off the development cycle for what will one day become a complete lineup of titles, the New Orleans Studio’s first product is complete. A space-themed tycooning game that encourages players to colonize a mysterious planet in order to prosper, Cosmic Colony is now live and available for free to download iPhone, iPad, and Android.
Personally, I couldn’t be more proud of my friends and co-workers in New Orleans, and I look forward to seeing what they come up with next. But in the meantime, be sure to check out the amazing work our New Orleans team has done with Cosmic Colony by visiting the App Store and/or Google Play today!
