Parents: Get on Top of In-App Purchases

It’s quick and easy to configure your iOS or Android device so that your password has to be typed in every time a purchase is made.
Here’s how:

Apple iOS

Gain tighter controls of in-app purchases on iOS devices, open ‘Settings’ then choose ‘General’ and ‘Restrictions’. Then tap ‘Enable Restrictions’, choose a PIN and enter it a second time to confirm. Now set ‘Require Password ‘to ‘Immediately’.

Google Android

Open the Google Play Store app and click your device ‘Menu’ button and then ‘Settings’. Under ‘User Controls’ you’ll find an option to ‘Set or Change PIN’. Tap this and type your chosen PIN, tap OK and then re-enter the PIN to confirm. Then tick the box next to ‘Use PIN for purchases’.

Amazon Kindle Fire

Start by opening the ‘Menu’ and then ‘Settings’. Then tap ‘Parental Controls’, choose ‘On’ and then chose a password and re-enter to confirm.  Now click ‘Password-Protect Purchases’ to ‘On’.
